Sky Watch Friday

I got up one morning earlier this week to go to my local nature reserve on the outskirts of Frome and found this lovely sky sweeping across the reserve. It was amazing seeing the leading edge of this weather front slowly smothering the blue sky ahead of it.The quilt effect is magical I think! Thanks to the team that keep the SWF up and running. For more amazing skies from around the world, click on the icon on the right hand side.Nearly forgot, I promised to include this link to listen to the sound of the Cetti's Warbler. It's not the best or most pure rendition, but gives an idea of this powerful song. http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/c/cettiswarbler/index.asp

The patterns in these clouds are incredible. Wonderful captures. Was there a storm coming in, or just past?

Hi Greg, thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog. There were amazing clouds!

Hi Enigma, I dont think there was a storm on the way, just a weather front coming through.

HI Jenny,
These are wonderful cloud patterns! I love the second one very much, it looks like somebody tore apart the sky in two part!! Fantastic

Fabulous clouds, glad you were up early to catch them.

I've really enjoyed the bird photos on your blog, especially the short-eared owl! And the waxwing. We had a flock here just a short while ago and I was thrilled to catch them with my camera. What a variety you get to see! A lot of them don't venture this far north.

Lovely Frome.....it's where my aunt lives!

I missed this yesterday, but glad I saw it! That second photo looks like a nice snowy white blanket being slowly pulled up. Very much like looking at the cotton batting that goes in the quilts! Certainly a sky worth posting!

Fascinating pictures! I love the first one that shows the reflection of the clouds in the water.

Hi Roy, yes, lovely job! (-:

Hi Sandy, thanks for stopping by my blog. They were indeed beautiful!

Hi Julie, I think it is unusual and too good an opportunity to miss taking for SWF.

Hi Chris, yes, that was quite dramatic, watching it move slowly across the sky.

Hi Gennasus, thanks for looking in on my blog and thanks for looking back through too. Glad you enjoyed it. (-:

Hi Mary, I thought of you when I wanted to describe those clouds as quilty! (-:

Hi there Danni, yes, I really like that one best too. It would have been great to have a bigger expanse of water, but you've gotta work with what's there! (-:

Those are definitely artistic clouds painting themselves across the sky in amazing patterns. I think these are Altocumulus clouds? anyone?

Hi Christine, I've never heard of those clouds, but coming from someone musical, I think that must be them! (-:
