More rambles at Rodden Reserve

These aren't actually aimless rambles around my local reserve. While I'm walking and taking photos, I'm also making notes of all the birds I see and hear and then sending the records up to the BTO (British Trust for Ornithology) on their Birdtrack system online. Here's the link to the BTO website if you want to take a look http://www.bto.org/ .  The first thing I noticed when walking round was that the Pussy Willow was showing a bit more. It wont be too long before these trees are a mass of pollen!
I came across this Robin which seemed to have an incurable itch! It spent ages scratching, taking no notice of my careful approach.
There has been a Coot here over the last few days. This is quite a rare visitor to the Reserve. It's been hanging out with the local Moorhens.
I'll finish this post with a graceful nodding grass seedhead. There'll be more from Rodden in the next post.

One coot amongst a number of Moorhens, he is
pushing his luck Jen. Lovely Pussy willow.

Lovely captures of the irritated Robin Jenny ;-) Isn't it strange how bird sightings vary from place to place? The Coot is one of the birds I can be guaranteed to see in the few watery places here...and usually squabbling with each other :-)

Hi Pix, I'm glad our Robin, grasses and Pussy Willow made you happy. Do you have anything similar to the Willow?

Hi Roy, yes, I'm not sure how long it will stay around once the Moorhens pair up.

Hi Jan, those Coot are a quarrelsome lots aren't they. I guess if we all saw the same birds, it would be less interesting. It's always nice to see something out of the ordinary on my local patch! (-:

Pussy willow....robins...I keep thinking spring. Why doesn't it feel like spring! That Robin looks so quizzical...really giving you the eye.

Hi Mary, we're feeling the same over here. Spring seems very late this year! I'm sure it's just around the corner. Hopefully for you too! (-:
