Our second day started out at Needs Ore Point, a private reserve sticking out into The Solent (the body of water between the mainland of Britain and the Isle of Wight).
There were several hides to take a look in and also right down the end of the spit, this view across to the Isle of Wight. Below are some of the birds we saw here. 
Little Egret 
Grey Heron
Curlew taking a drink.... 
Some Black-tailed Godwits in varying stages of summer/winter plumage. A bit distant unfortunately!
A lone Lapwing (usually seen in flocks).
Lastly some Oystercatchers (or Oiks for short).
The final post from the New Forest will be back in woodland as we make our way back north towards home.

To start with I had a problem trying to work out what that first Egret shot was Jen. I thought it was some weird sculpture, so unusual.

The picture of the little egret with snags of wood in a calm water made me gasp! It's delightful! All your images are amazing - love your adventure!
Hi Roy, yes, luckily for me, I was the first one in the hide and the Egret and the Heron were happily preening reasonably close to.

The egret found some weird perching spots...makes the shot so interesting. That Curlew sure gets its whole head into taking a drink. Such a nice variety to find in one spot....lovely!
The Lapwing is an interesting bird Jen! Those sailboats look like they barely have enough water, guess it is deeper than it looks :) The Oiks are cool birds!
My favs are the grey heron and lapwing. I don't believe I've seen pictures of these before -- and certainly not in person! Highly unusual and beautiful. I imagine you must be a quiet, patient bird watcher!
